Once upon a time, cooking was an ordinary activity for me. I could throw together a meal in a few minutes from recipes in my head… from 50+ years of experience… until I had a surprise. Unexpectedly, the right side of my body started shutting down one day. First, I couldn’t walk, then I couldn’t sign my name, and soon I couldn’t do anything with my right hand. I had had a stroke.
I am naturally right-handed, but a stroke took that away from me. Since my left hand was not affected, it has become my dominant hand and in many ways, my only hand. For a long time, every action required thinking and planning in advance. Through physical therapy and effort, many skills gradually returned, but many seem to be gone for good. I have learned alternate ways of doing things and I want to share what I have learned. I hope you find helpful information here.
